Keyshawn Johnson on USC's Future, NFL Coaches, Moss and Tackling Design

This morning we got a chance to talk briefly with the incomparable Keyshawn Johnson.

Always blunt, Johnson offered some quick opinions on some of the big personalities in the NFL and gave a prognostication on the future of his alma mater, USC:
"There is this huge dark cloud over the university; there's this big myth that we are finished and done, but that's not the case...Knowing the recruiting class that's coming in, two years from now they'll be right back in the national championship hunt."
He offers his thoughts on Rex Ryan, Bill Parcells ("Best coach I played for at the pro level. Demanding, much like Rex Ryan."), Jon Gruden ("Interesting character. He's grown since his last coaching job."), Brad Childress ("How can a guy get along with Brad Childress? It's almost impossible.)"

On the Randy Moss situation and what kind of influence he'll be in Tennessee with young guys like Kenny Britt:

"I've never known Randy Moss to be a negative influence on anyone. Things didn't work at Oakland, but they never do with anyone. I mean, Minnesota traded him to Oakland and Oakland traded him to New England and New England traded him to Minnesota again and now he's in Tennessee so...I have no real negative feelings toward Randy Moss or would say he's bad for a locker room or anything like that."

Check it out...

Play Him Off, Waylon: Randy Moss, Good Ol' Boy

While people pile on Randy, just remember that his uncouth behavior has always been in his Appalachian blood, and has always been part of his charm.

One of my favorite commercials ever...

Randy Moss Punching Bag: HHR Says Sooth

Three days ago, in the wake of Randy Moss' restraining order, we suggested:
Can anyone get Randy Moss' personal punching bag Rachelle Washington on the Giant sideline this Super Bowl?

Surely, I wouldn't put something like that past Belichick had the boot been on the other foot, but does the Giants' brass have enough stones and/or creativity to think of something like that?
The short blurb even elicited quite a bit of commentary on Yardbarker.

Well, maybe I underestimated the Giants' collective brainpower. MediaTakeOut.com indicates that someone in the Giants org might have done just what I suggested. Maybe Giant players are HHR readers? Um. Yeah. That's the ticket.

Here's what a self-identified Giant girlfriend told MTO:
I am [NY Giants player's] girlfriend and I had to tell you about a rumor going around with the players. [Giants player] told me that a big Giants fan bought Superbowl tickets for that woman that Randy Moss beat up and he's paying for all her expenses.

They're saying that if the woman in sitting at the game, Randy Moss won't be able to play because of the restraining order.

Slick right. But good for them. The Patriots are a bunch of cheaters so it serves them right.

Restrain This, Homey

Can anyone get Randy Moss' personal punching bag Rachelle Washington on the Giant sideline this Super Bowl?

Surely, I wouldn't put something like that past Belichick had the boot been on the other foot, but does the Giants' brass have enough stones and/or creativity to think of something like that?

Doubt it.

Randy Moss admits he is a virgin?

Following the Moss story today, Ren pointed out this interesting quote

"I want to make something clear," the Patriots wide receiver said while surrounded by reporters and cameras at his locker. "In my whole entire life of living 30 years, I've never put my hand on one woman, physically or in an angry manner."

Did he mean he has never physically touched a woman 'in an angry manner' or he has never physically touched a woman at all?

It wouldn't be crazy. Abstinence. I've considered it before, usually when I'm not getting laid. I've heard of boxers giving up the nook while training for big fights, or player’s abstaining the night before games to keep their energy level up. But to be celibate for an entire career? Nah, who would be dumb enough to give up all the phenomenal poon that comes with life as a professional athlete?

Oh.

Right.

"If God's so good, how come he didn't give you a jump shot?"

Separated at Birth: Tom Brady and Sgt Schultz

Tom Brady: I KNOW NOTHING!

After Jaws absolutely killed Randy Moss on Thursday, Tom Brady apparently doesn't agree with the assessment of Moss' laziness:

"It bothers me that people take unnecessary shots at him," Brady said. "I don't know what he's done in the past, but he's been great to be around and I think people just like taking shots, unfortunately. If you truly appreciated what he does in his game, then [you wouldn't take shots] ... around us he's a great teammate and everything we're looking for."

I laughed out loud when I read FanHouse's Ryan Wilson commentary on Ms. Sexiest Woman Alive's reaction:
First of all, Brady doesn't know what Moss has done in the past? Really? I guess Bill Belichick doesn't allow televisions on the compound. Otherwise, Brady's full of crap. Second, I imagine Brady knows exactly what Jaws is talking about since he watches the same tape. It's not surprising that he wouldn't call out his teammate, especially one who's on pace to break all sorts of receiving records, but he sounds silly defending Moss.
Well played, Mr. Wilson. Well played.

I'm sure the chief will pull his best Rodney Harrison and make some excuse and/or cry victim. At least the non-New England loving sports world can rest assured knowing that it's easy to win games when you know what the other team is calling and the whole Belicheat era will be surrounded with an aura of taint.
