Crabtree Auditioning for Role of Freddie Mitchell

Freddie Mitchell will long be the subject of Eagle fan scorn for the first round pick's inability to live up to expectations (and his own ego). The eccentric wide receiver-turned-blogger was thrust on to the national scene in the Eagles lead up to the Super Bowl a few years back, in which during a press conference he infamously thanked his "hands for being so great" and donned oven mitts to protect them.

49er fans better pray their top prospect Michael Crabtree's career doesn't suffer the same fate as First Down Freddie. His preferred hand protection method doesn't bode well for San Fran. Here's hoping the similarities end there.

Training Camp Postcards, Part 7 of 8: NFC West

As you may or may not follow, SI.com has dispatched "10 writers to report on the 32 NFL training camps across the country" and is featuring their reports throughout August in their Training Camp Postcard segment.

Here at HHR, we prefer to look at actual postcards sent by players to their loved ones, as opposed to Peter King drivel.

Today, we take a look at what's going on in Santa Clara, CA (49ers), Flagstaff, AZ (Cardinals), Mequon, WI (Rams), and Kirkland, WA (Seahawks).

TSG: Joe Montana In Love Letter Lawsuit

Photo: The Smoking Gun

Joe Montana is suing his ex-wife and Heritage Auction of Texas "over the sale of love letters and memorabilia from the Hall of Fame quarterback's college days at the University of Notre Dame," claiming the sale "violated his copyright and privacy rights." Among the items up for bid are:
  • Montana's freshman I.D. card
  • The Moses-Montana 1974 marriage certificate
  • A letter to Moses penned on a Ziggy card
  • An "I Love You" note
  • A letter Montana wrote to Moses's parents describing his first year on the Notre Dame football squad.
Who doesn't love Ziggy.

Hopefully this ex-wife never snapped a photo of him, otherwise she's in for a world of hurt.
