Paralympic Biathlete is Pretty Damn Cute

Last night on NBC's The Biggest Loser Couples, contestants found themselves training at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs with the likes of Gold Medalist Alpine Skier Julia Mancuso, Freestyle Skier Jeret "Speedy" Peterson, Speedskater J.R. Celski, Pairs Figure Skater Rockne Brubaker, Paralympic Gold Medalist Alpine Skier Alison Jones and Paralympic Biathlete Kelly Underkofler.

Not gonna lie. Underkofler is our new favorite biathlete and not because she can shoot or ski.

USA! USA! USA!

Ariel: Recapping Biggest Loser Premiere

Wow, what a big night. And I mean that literally. Big. Large. Huge. This is the biggest group that they've ever started with on the Biggest Loser and I can't wait to see the transformations.

Riddled with twists and turns, such as having the contestants workout without their trainers, and sending home 9 contestants, this season is surely one to watch. I love the first night of the show because you can really see who has what it takes to stay, who might be the dark horse of the competition, and who is going to cause the most drama, i.e. Vicky from this past season.

So, here are just a few observations from last night's episode.

Gray Team: Carla and Joelle, Best Friends - I liked these ladies off the bat - lots of sass and moxy - looks like they could kick some ass. Reminded Ren and I of the "Reality Check" skit from Mad TV. Although, we think that they made the wrong decision of sending Carla home - as the largest woman, she has the most to lose.

Brown Team: Ron and Mike, father/son - Ron is extremely large, 430lbs, and apparently had gastric bypass surgery. I am going to venture to say it was unsuccessful. Ren comments, "Gastric Bypass, is that cheating?" My answer, "Cheating? He weighs 430lbs." Pretty much ended the conversation right there.

Blue Team: Filipe and Sione, Cousins - two cousins from like Samoa or something. I like these two, and I think they have the ability to stay in the game a while. They will lose a lot of weight, and they seem like they'll be well-liked, and therefore avoid elimination.

Green Team: Laura and Tara, friends - Apparently these girls are former models. Going to bite my tongue here, but the one girl, Laura complained and whined, and it showed when her teammate Tara lost 21lbs in the first week, but Laura only lost 13. Good number, but you can tell who's weight problem is more physical, and who's is more mental. If you aren't committed to losing the weight, then stay home and let someone else who IS committed be there and get healthy.

Orange Team: David and Daniel, best friends - I couldn't not say something about these two guys. At 23 and 19, they basically each have maybe 10 years more to live, at the rate they were going. They are extremely morbidly obese - this is why I watch this show, and think that even though it exists because people like me are obsessed, it does change lives, and hopefully inspires others to change their lives. I pray these guys get the weight off and keep it off.

So, these are just a few that stand out... I am sure we'll see some more of the true personalities in the coming weeks.

Separated At Birth: Dr. Skip Bayless Consults Morbidly Obese on Biggest Loser

As if annoying sports fans on ESPN wasn't enough, Skip Bayless has been annoying reality TV fans, playing the role of Dr. Rob Huizenga on NBC's Biggest Loser.

"Call me, fatties. I offer hands-on topless consultations."

Biggest Loser Goes Bat Sh*t Crazy

While most of my TV habits have changed now that there is a little person in my house who needs my constant attention, the one thing I seemed to have time for is the Biggest Loser.

This season was all about family - husbands/wives, and parents/children. So far, all of the contestants have seemed like the usual run of the mill, "losing weight because if I don't, I'll die" sort of mentality.

But, whereas in other seasons you are emotionally drawn in to the plight of these people, this season there are a few where you just can't help but not give a flying f*ck if they lose weight or eat themselves to death.

On last night's episode my hatred for a few of these contestants came to a head. Vicky is just bat sh*t crazy, and the most cocky, manipulative, maniacal contestant I have ever seen since the beginning of this show. While I've seen some contestants throw the weigh-in, back-stab, etc., I've never seen as much game playing as I have seen this year with this woman. In some cases with reality TV you suspect that editing is the reason for being made out like the "villain" but in this case she is just a f*cking lunatic. Plain and simple.

Vicky & Brady. She craps bigger than you. Out of her mouth.

After picking off other "threats" one by one, and manipulating and controlling teammate Heba (whose husband Ed got kicked off a few weeks ago then brought back last night), she felt as though her alliances were indestructible, and that she and husband Brady would be the #1 and #2 Biggest Losers, and therefore walk away with a total of $350K. This is her motivation. And considering she is doing well at losing the weight each week, that leaves me to one conclusion - she is a lazy, greedy bitch. Why else would she need to come on a show to lose weight?

In the beginning, you sort of feel bad too. They have two kids and their daughter is on track to become an obese child. But after you witness all this craziness, you can't help but feel like she is selfish, and that the health of her family is secondary to her ability to win a cash prize. Either that or she has the biggest ego ever.

Fast forward to the elimination. Brady (her husband) and black team member Michelle are up for elimination. There are 6 votes - 4 blue team members, and 2 black team members. Even asked what she felt about the elimination, Vicky couldn't even muster up a compliment about Michelle, and only said something about it being a numbers game and that she's confident Brady is safe.

Thankfully Amy C. got a pep talk from her mom, and decided to go out on a limb and vote for her biggest competition, Brady, making the vote a tie, and sending it to the deciding factor which is percentage of weight loss. Brady had the lowest, so he goes home. NBC did a great job of leaving the rest of the craziness for the preview of next week.

All you see if a handwritten note taped to what you assume is Amy C's door and it says "Revenge." Then you see Ed giving an interview where he says something to the affect of "Vicky is just crazy. You can't cross her."

Is she the leader of the fat mob or something? Its a shame. I usually have a nice cathartic cry with the contestants of this show because they are all pure and decent humans who genuinely care about the health and well being of their fellow castmates, and all appreciate the greater reason for being on the show - losing weight. Vicky has cheapened the message and ruined the meaning of what really is an empowering, uplifting reality show.

But b*tches bring ratings. NBC, you've won this time.

Ariel Dances with the Biggest Idol

Tuesday night reality TV update....

First off, I did not watch one second of Idol. The night was too full with other obligations, and something had to give. Sorry Seacrest, but as Heidi Klum would say "You're out." Our buddy Illuminati over at phillyburbs did a recap I can respect...

Big night on the Biggest Loser. The final weigh-ins before the finale took place, and boy were we shocked. Well, Dunbar actually noted that he thought Mark looked as though he was "being shocked with an electric prod in the rear" when he found out he had lost 11 pounds.

Both guys lost about 6.4% of their total weight last night, and thought they were safely headed to the finale. But boy were they wrong. Ali and Kelly lost a combined 24 pounds, and secured their places in the finals. Both guys were shocked. From a strategic perspective Roger thought for sure he was going home. He is the bigger guy, and definitely the bigger threat, having already lost 144 lbs, and having enough weight still on him to safely lose another 20-30 before the end.

But.... of course another Loser "shocker".... Ali (host) lets them know that America will actually vote on which contestant gets to continue on with the competition. Realistically, if America votes for Mark, I think the girls have a better chance. Mark really does not have much more weight to lose, and actually might add more muscle. I mean he's down to 170... and he is a taller guy. I also don't think Ali has much more weight to lose... she's already lost 99lbs, and is at about 135, and I mean if she drops below the 120lb mark she is just going to look sick.

Kelly on the other hand definitely has more to lose. I think she is down to 170 something, and can probably lose another 30lbs easily. I think she'll look the most different at the finale.

But these are just my thoughts. I am excited at the prospect of a woman winning, but only think it can happen if America chooses to keep Mark in the competition, and unfortunately I just like Roger better :)

Dancing with the Stars:

My prediction was right... Carolla was sent packing. Thank god. He was a horrible dancer, and while not as bad as Wayne Newton, was still a bit uncomfortable to watch. A little surprised that he shared the bottom two with Priscilla Presley, but she lived very reclusively prior to coming on the show, so her fan base might have dwindled.

Ariel Dances with the Biggest Idol

I'll cut to the chase.... Dan from BL, and Penn and Monica from DWTS all got sent packing last night, in what was an easier reality TV night for me to handle.

On BL, the guys were getting a little cocky about how much weight they have to lose vs. the remaining two ladies. During the challenge they clearly gunned for the girls, with Kelly being the bigger target which was just poor form to me.

If they had any brain, and really wanted to win the $250K they would start to turn on eachother, as they are their own biggest competition. I mean, jeez, what kind of reality show is this where people are nice and stick together and whatnot? We need some backstabbing, damnit!

In the end, Ren's boy Dan only lost 1 pound and was sent below the yellow line with his "teammate" Mark. Because Mark already got sent home once (he won his way back to the show, though I think he's next) you knew it'd be Danny boy. Kelly and Ali both wowed the guys and dropped 7 and 6 pounds respectively, securing their place atop the leader board.

On DWTS, the first elimination was a predictable one. Monica Seles and Penn Jillette, the two lowest scorers also garnered the least amount of votes and were sent on their way. I am not sad. They both were painful to watch.

As far as Idol, Ren and I only caught two performances. Ren's sis called promptly at 9:34 to discuss the final performance of the evening, David Cook's rendition of Billy Jean, but alas we could not comment, and could only speak for a few min anyways since loser was coming back from commercial break. This morning I did watch a few of the performances I missed, and I still like Brooke White... and David Cook did rock the house. I think Kristy Lee will probably get sent home tonight, much to Simon's delight.

Dancing with the Biggest Idol

When 8:00 rolled around I thought I only had two reality shows to compete with for the night - Biggest Loser, and American Idol. Because Idol has done little this season to hold my attention, I didn't think it'd be such a difficult night.

The first hour of BL was filled with another reality TV favorite, Project Runway's Tim Gunn, helping the losers find outfits that show off their new physiques as they pose for a Prevention Magazine photoshoot. These transformations brought Gunn and Ren (who seems to be exhibiting the hormonal signs of MY pregnancy) to tears. Fluff - yes. But, at least it was good fluff.

AI was uneventful. We saw the blonde chick sing - she is good. And someone else... maybe one of the rock guys? Yeah, we were really paying attention.

At some point Ren says "Hey, isn't Dancing with the Stars on tonight?" SH*T!!!!!!!!!! He was right. Tuesday was the ladies.... how in the hell was I going to watch 3 shows at once... this was my own reality TV Trifecta.

The 9:00 hour was difficult. Thank God ABC ran DWTS from 9-10:30...

To sum it all up -

BL - Glad Brittany got the boot - she looks great, and is the smallest person at the ranch. She can manage at home. Let it be noted that Ren hates Dan because he is getting "too big for his britches."

AI - We like the rock guy, David Cook. Good stuff. Reminiscent of Daughtry, a personal fav.

DWTS - Monica Seles will get sent home. She looked stiff and uncomfortable. Kristy Yamaguchi was the best of the women, and Mario was the best of the men. Notable competition - Jason Taylor will do well, as will Shannon Elizabeth.

Screw You, NBC

I hope other Loser fans were as astonished as I when at 9:59, the show ended without the revelation as to which contestant, Brittany or Maggie, were getting the send-off.

Listen-up, NBC, you are assuming viewers will stand for far more than what we are willing to actually accept.

My colleague C.R. Dunbar is sick of the same stupid music and the rewind after commerical breaks. I myself have put up with these 2 hour shows for 1.5 seasons now, and I am getting sick of it. You're lucky that I am underwhelmed by this seasons' Idol contestants or else I'd have jumped ship weeks ago.

Last night's "cliffhanger" was more than I could bear. With real TV on the verge of a comeback I am going to find it hard to set aside all 120 minutes to the Biggest Loser. Especially when you use 1 whole hour (well, 40 min if you count the 20 minutes spent watching the rewind after a commerical break) weighing in past contestants to see who lost the most weight at home, and could rejoin the show.

The only thing you have going for you is that Jillian is a loose-cannon and can start cursing at a moments notice.

You better get your sh*t together, or else.

Ariel Dances with the Biggest Idol

Big week for reality TV.... DWTS announcement, start of the top 24 Idols, and another heated Biggest Loser. I'll do my best to give brief commentary on each.

DWTS:

While I haven't been watching Bruno and Carrie Ann, I was excited to hear who would make up the next season of dancers, starting March 17th. A mixed bag of sorts...

ADAM CAROLLA & JULIANNE HOUGH - This could be good. I like Adam Carolla, and think he'll be decent, and he is funny, so that is a good thing.

CRISTIÁN DE LA FUENTE & CHERYL BURKE - No clue who this is.

SHANNON ELIZABETH & DEREK HOUGH - She is good looking, but might be boring... not too much personality here.

STEVE GUTTENBERG & ANNA TREBUNSKAYA - I am psyched about this, I have to be honest. The Polica Academy series is one of the best. I am just wondering if Michael Winslow will be providing the music and sound effects for Steve's performances.

PENN JILLETTE & KYM JOHNSON - Um, yawn.

MARIO & KARINA SMIRNOFF - No clue who this is.

MARLEE MATLIN & FABIAN SANCHEZ - Um, yawn. This will be another sort of Heather Mills thing.... people dancing with disabilities... whatev.

PRISCILLA PRESLEY & LOUIS VAN AMSTEL - Should be interesting to watch. Hopefully she'll have more sex appeal than Jane Seymour did.

MONICA SELES & JONATHAN ROBERTS - She might be good. I will just be inclined to watch her and see if she yells everytime her partner spins her one way or the other...

JASON TAYLOR & EDYTA SLIWINSKA - This is the HOT couple. If he has rhythm, I'd put money that they'll make it to the finals. Edyta deserves to win just once.

MARISSA JARET WINOKUR & TONY DOVOLANI - No clue who this is.

KRISTI YAMAGUCHI & MARK BALLAS - Kristi is definitely the early favorite for obvious reasons, and will likely go far. But she might be boring, who knows.

IDOL:

The guys were up last night to dazzle us with hits from the 60's. Ren and myself exchanged many texts and calls with both Fat Willard and Ren's sis in regards to the number of young boys in very tight, girlish looking pants. The Norega kid definitely was wearing girls jeans... those bitches were low-rise, and men's jeans aren't made THAT low. Maybe I am just getting old- I mean Fall Out Boy wears them. Anyway, I digress.

The Aussie dude at the end was the best - he is older, more mature, not like the other HS musical theater drop-outs. And he is good looking. Doesn't hurt when the guys are easy on the eyes.

Hopefully the girls tonight will WOW us a bit more.

BIGGEST LOSER:

So I will spare you the details of the show, other than the fact that Paul is an a**hole and deserved to get kicked off.

The whole season he has guilted his poor ex-wife (his partner on the show) time and again about how he still loves her and she doesn't love him. GET OVER IT. You are there to lose weight, not try to get your ex-wife back.

The turning point for Ren and I in watching the show last night was how cocky he was right before elimination of his chances of NOT getting kicked off.... saying how he had the best potential to lose the most weight. Well, buddy, when you go home for a week and stuff your face with wings and desserts, your ass ain't gonna drop that weight. Then, he had the audacity to wear his Yellow Team shirt to the elimination, pretty much singling himself out....

Thankfully the youngsters of the team dropped the dead weight, literally, and kicked his behind to the curb. Kelly, and the rest of the black team will be better for it.

And that is your super update for this week. It was tough to type because my thumb hurt from flipping back and forth last night...

Tough Times for Biggest Loser

I have to say, this whole "couples" thing is good. NBC kudos to you. I'm diggin' this season (and secretly, I think Ren is, too).

So at the end of last week's episode you find out that the loser's are going to have to choose one team to sort of "play" against. Alison asks them that if they had to pick a team to leave, who would it be.

The majority chose Yellow.

Last night, it was basically all the other teams against the Yellow. At weigh-in, the total average percentage weight loss for the other 6 teams would have to be beaten by the Yellow team, or else they'd go home automatically. If the Yellow team beat the average, well then they single-handedly would get to send one of the other teams home.

This season has been more emotional for the contestants probably because they are going through the experience with a loved one, and for better or worse an enabler that helped them plump up in the first place. There has been much less game playing (until this show) but much more emotional baggage for these peeps to deal with.

Because some of the teams were confident that they'd be in that soft spot of Kelly and Paul's heart, they could be a bit more aggressive at weigh in.

Chris Griffin and Mom (Orange team) decided to test their fate by purposly losing only a few pounds each. This effectively lowered the combined average weight loss for the others and helped the Yellow team win.

These people are starting to wise up. You need to play the game to win. And if you get eliminated in the process you should have enough determination to continue your weight loss on your own at home.

Yellow team wins the weigh in, and sends the pink team home mostly because they were one of the teams that put them in that position in the first place.

NBC has been good at throwing in the twists, and next week will begin an even bigger challenge for the losers. Instead of team eliminations, a team will lose the player that they've relied on most. Not only is this hard to go through on your own, but now you're taking away built in support systems. I'm telling you.... might seem cruel, but it makes for damn good TV.

Biggest Loser - Couples

What a way to start the new year.... Ren and Fat Willard rocked out to Guitar Hero on NYE.... we had a New Years Day filled with fun and hijinx with the crazy Shaw family.... and capped it off with a night of Law-and-Order (I think we watched like 5 episodes... no joke) and Biggest Loser - Couples.

Ren seems to think this show won't make it in our household for 10+ weeks. As I stuffed my face with a variety of chicken wings and salt-and-vinegar chips, I have to admit I got hooked. I am intrigued by the twist of losing weight with a loved-one.

Last night we met 9-couples and 1 set of strangers who were paired up to lose weight as a team. Each couple had a compelling story, which of course made me cry at some point. I am just such a sucker these days.

But it was the actual competition that drew me in. When you're trying to lose weight and you get kicked off, you only have yourself to blame. Last night we saw teams of people where one member was working harder than the other. I can potentially see marriages and relationships falling apart because of one person's lack of effort.

Lynn and Jennie, a father-daughter duo got the boot last night. Pops weighed it at over 400 big ones, and Jennie was an impressive 2-something. After the first week, where the daughter had to beg her father to work out, it was SHE who only lost 7 pounds, where as dad (with much more to lose mind you dropped double digits. He desperately wanted to leave the show, and didn't seem to mind leaving his health in the hands of the big man upstairs.

The trust and motivation component of this show really gets me. You're only as good as your partner, and when you are trying to lose weight I'm not really sure I'd want to rely on someone else. It'll be interesting to see which other contestants become the TO of the team, bitching and moaning about the failings of their teammate.

This was like Biggest Loser meets Amazing Race... only Charla our favorite little person was absent from this competition.

Kudos to you, NBC. Way to pre-empt the writers strike with another gripping reality series. I mean you did plug the sh*t out of it. Just promise me you don't bring back Clash of the Choirs anytime soon.

Biggest Loser Stuffed with Filling

No, this is not another post about Thanksgiving. But last night's Biggest Loser was allllll filler.

With only 6 contestants left, and writers still striking, NBC has no choice but to continue to air BL for 2 hours, a timeframe much too long for a show that can be completed in about 45 minutes.

The show started out with B's goodbye message to Kim, as well as a sappy montage of Red Team "through-the-years" type footage. Boo-frickity-whoo, sorry Kim, your team were a bunch of losers.

Next the remaining 6 are challenged with a day in the "real-world" where they had to rise at 6am, train in the morning, then complete a full day of work at a pizza restaurant, come home and train some more. If they were in the real-world, I doubt they'd be working out two times a day and still have time to do all the other things a real person in the world is tasked with.

(every commerical break from this point forward is featuring Clash of the Choirs... it's looks stupider every time I see it, yet it makes me want to watch it even more.)

Next up, the challenge. The losers have to bounce on a trampoline and punch a speed bag that is suspended at least 4 ft above their heads. Each round is 3 minutes, and the person with the lowest number of punches for each round is eliminated. With a 1 pound pass at stake, Nicole, Neil, and Bill are eliminated from the challenge, with the 3 black team girls left to battle for the prize. Hollie pulls ahead, and wins the challenge.

Weigh-in time.... Julie and Nicole fall below the yellow line, which means that Nicole is going home. She is the bigger threat AND it's 3-1 black vs blue members voting, and the 4 remaining black members are tight and loyal to one another.

Takes 30 min and more filler to find out that Nicole is indeed going home.

Next week, there will definitely be two black members up for elimination because Neil should pull a big enough number to stay safe. He's pulled himself out of his plateau, and should be able to hang on and make it to the finals. The only thing that could change this is if NBC decides that whoever has the lowest % next week is automatically eliminated... can't remember if they did that last year or not.

Ariel Loses with the Biggest Dancer... Part 1

... Or something like that.

Ok kids, it's a big night for reality TV. We got a huge Biggest Loser, as well as the final finale for DWTS. I think NBC and ABC are in cahoots to keep viewers for both shows. NBC has its usual 2-hour, 8-10pm timeslot for loser, while ABC smartly decided to air the DWTS finale between 9-11pm. Makes my life a whole lot easier, that I know. I only have to flip back and forth for 60 minutes, not too shabby considering the alternative.

Hour 1 - Biggest Loser

The losers learn that America got to choose their challenge from their favorite challenges on season's past. Good job America (cough NBC producers, cough), you picked the one challenge that doesn't have to do with exercise. The losers were challenged to hang on a pole suspended above a pool of water, with only a slight edge for their feet to grip to. This challenge was introduced in season two where Andrea literally hung in there for like an hour or something crazy.

Not sure the length of time that elapsed, but I think this crop of losers was mentally weaker than the previous set who dared this test of strength. In the end Bill was the last loser standing and won a week's vacation for himself and his family. Some of the comments from the girls who lost were "I am sick of Bill winning everything," and "Bill isn't even fat anymore..." Hmm... isn't that the freaking point? Ladies, stop making excuses and work your a$$ off to win this thing!

(oooh a commerical for a new reality series "Clash of the Choirs," Ren rolls his eyes hoping I don't make him watch that one too...)

After the challenge, the losers decide to take a swim because hey, why not. Well, our friend Nicole decides to dive headfirst into 3' of water and breaks her front two teeth... um... what? Don't you learn not to do that at like age 5?

Kim is still concerned with B's nutrition and learns that he's been marinating his meat in Soy Sauce. SOY SAUCE? Um, everyone knows you gain like 20 pounds in water weight after you eat chinese food. This kid has been probably eating 3000 g of sodium everyday retaining water like a PMSing georgia peach in August. I mean, come on!

A time filling trip to the doctor's reveals that the losers aren't just losing weight, but they are also dropping inches, lowering thier cholesterol and blood pressure without medication, and exponentially reducing the mass of their waist, hips, and thighs.

Ok... yawn... last chance work outs... yada yada yada. Alright, there really is no reason for this show to be more than an hour, but I guess with the writers strike they really don't have a choice.

8:53, 7 min til my thumb workout begin.

Hmmm, captian obvious decided to break into a "loser tip" and tell us that you can't burn fat with crunches alone. You need cardio, a balanced diet, and all over resistence training. Thank you Personal Training 101.

Hour 2 - DWTS and Loser Head-to-Head

(show hasn't even started and Ren is already commenting on Marie's drunken appearance)

Ok first comment is that Samantha Harris has big boobs and like to show them off in the dresses she chooses to wear. Just had to get that off my chest.

DWTS - After a brief recap, TB ushers out Celine Dion, and as soon as I go to switch to BL, Ren makes me flip back to see if she is wearing a jumpsuit, and/or has a camel toe. Thank God, neither is the case, and I safely flip back to the weigh in.

BL - Beginning of the weigh in... did I hear Alison correctly, and she said after tonight we'll be down to the final four? Does that mean three are going home? What the deuce? Ok, maybe not because the scale still has a slot for the bottom 2... Hmm, I am pretty confused but I guess I'll figure it out. B and Isabeau each lost 4 pounds... B is definitely getting sent to elimination.

DWTS - The first couple is about to be eliminated... please be Marie, please be Marie, THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's Marie and Jonathan. Phewwww, seriously, there is someone looking out for all of us and for ABC becuase if she won, I think they would have lost a lot of viewers. (She reminded us again of her age... yeah we get it and have gotten it the whole time...)

BL - Bill is safe, not sure how much he lost, but he weighs less than Isabeau now. If I were those girls I'd be working my behind off. Nicole drops 6 pounds, and is down to 212. Good for her - I like her. Hollie is down 3 pounds, but her percentage puts her at the edge of elimination. Isabeau is still in, but B is still at risk. Wow... Julie lost 5 pounds, and is safe. Hollie is def up for elimination. Neil is looking to get below 300 pounds... that is insane to me that he doesn't remember the last time he was below 300... but I guess that is why he is here. Doh, commerical.

DWTS - I guess we have about 1 hour and 33 min of filler until we find out who the winner is. Josie Maran dances and we see clearly why she was the first kicked off. Apparently they are going week by week and parading out all the kicked off starts.

BL - Neil loses 5 pounds, drops below 300 but bumps B to elimination. B pleads his case like a man to the other contestants, but Kim is crushed by the news. Jeez Kim... way to load the guilt on to this kid. Make him feel worse than he does.

DWTS - ugh... Wayne Newton. It still hurts me to watch him. Thank God... he can't dance, doctor's orders.

BL - At elimination, Alison pulls a captain obvious move and explains how if B is eliminated that it will be the first time in BL history that an entire team will be gone. Even Ren knows that this is the first time they had three teams... and therefore a better chance of a team being eliminated before the end. Isabeau voted for Bryan, Neil voted for Hollie, Bill voted for Bryan, Julie voted for.... doh, commerical break.

DWTS - Sabrina and Bryan dance... she was really, really good.

BL - Julie voted for Bryan, and with that goes the Red Team. I am sad for him, but strategically it was the right move. (Ok, Bryan's dad is named Ruffin. That is AWESOME)

Hour 3 will be posted tomorrow. I need to leave some of the suspense hangin out there! (plus this sh*t was getting way too long)

Biggest Whiner...eh... Loser Recap

Ok, not to cut to the chase, but THANK GOD Amy is gone from the Biggest Loser. I don't think she is a bad person. However, I think she worked the least out of all the people there, and had a TON of weight to lose.

The reason why those people got into the position they were in was because they lacked discipline. When on a weight-loss reality show, the first thing you're supposed to learn is discipline!!! It's the only thing that'll help you to survive in the "real world."

Anyways.... So last night was the 10th week I think, and the final 9 competitors were broken down to singles. Every man/woman for themselves.

The temptation was disgusting. A chip worth $5,000 was buried in a pile of donuts. And when I say pile, I mean PILE. If the losers wanted a chance to rip through the donuts to find the chip, they had to first EAT a donut. All but Kae (she is a machine) decide to play. First round is 30 sec..., second round (and another donut) is 1 min...., third round (and a final donut) is unlimited time. After about 1 minute into the third round, Bill found the chip and became the winner for the week.

The challenge was sort of BS. So the losers were all going to take part in a "triathalon." They were going to bike 20km, run 3km, and swim 1km. The first 7 losers to finish the biking, got to compete at running. The first three to finish running, got to compete in the pool. BUT, if you finished sooner, it did not afford you a lead for the other rounds. That is the BS part. Kae easily finished first in the biking and running, but isn't much of a swimmer. Hollie (who finished third in the running) is a trained swimmer, and easily beat out Kae and Bill for the prize. The prize was a 24-hour trip home AND immunity for the weigh-in. Plus, the winner got to pick a second person to share the prize. Hollie chose Julie in a strategic decision, which I think was the right thing to do. However, this really pissed Amy off. Why she thought she was entitled to this prize is beyond me, and hence where the "whiner" part of my title comes in.

At the weigh-in, Hollie and Julie both lose no weight, which keeps them safe because they have immunity. Isabeau, Amy, and B all lose like 2 pounds, but Amy and B end up in the bottom two.

(Oh, and Amy "officially" became a member of the black team, and tried to give her red shirt back to Kim, which pissed Kim off even more.)

With three blue team members all there to save B (they all hate Amy because she is lazy and complains a lot), it was up to the 4 black team members to really decide who goes home. Julie, Hollie, and Bill all vote for B, and it comes down to Isabeau who, thank the lord, voted for Amy.

It was a good move all around. She didn't deserve to win because she wasn't working hard enough, and all she does is point fingers and complain about people being disloyal or throwing her under the bus. EVERYONE there knows she never worked hard enough (and maybe that was cleaver editing on NBC's part).

It's called PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY people... Like "I got fat because I ate a lot of bad food and didn't exercise." It's all apart of the process.

Think there is a market for a reality-tv-contestant-consultant???? I think I could make money consulting to-be contestants on the strategies of game play...

Ariel Dances with the Biggest Loser

Dancing with the Stars, recap:

Jane Seymour was ousted on last night's DWTS. While I thought it might be Cameron, Jane's lackluster dances and low scores paved the way for her trip home. It's nice to see that the fans can identify talent. Now we just have to do something about Marie Osmond...

Biggest Loser, recap:

Hey, NBC, you're a little late to the "green" bandwagon.... just an fyi.

So Biggest Loser went green last night... meaning that they gave you random recycling tips during commerical break, turned off the power in the gym, and gave away two Ford Escape Hybrids to the duo who won the challenge.

Yes, I said Duo. Now that we're down to 10 losers, the trios were split up and put into duos. Nicole won the chance to choose her duo, and then together they chose the next duo, who chose the next, and so on. We ended up with these teams - Nicole and Neil, Ryan and Isabeau, Julie and Bill, Hollie and B, and Kae and Amy. Kae was none too happy to have Amy on her team... Amy has a big mouth, but doesn't put all the effort into the game as Kae does. Plus, Kae wasn't too happy to be on a team with someone who wanted to kick her off last week...

For the challenge, the losers had to fill up a bin with as many soda cans as possible in 30 minutes. The duo with the most cans (by weight) won. The catch was that the cans were 100 yards or so away from the bins, and you had to run up ramp in order to dump your cans into the bin below.

Bill and Julie were able to dump a whopping 90-something pounds of cans, and won the challenge and the cars.

On to the weigh-in. This is sort of make or break for B because he is the only member of the red team left. If he gets sent packing, so does Kim... which is a bit sad even though she really annoys me at times. So all the duos put up pretty good numbers... doesn't seem like there is any game play this week, and as the teams get smaller and smaller each week, this sort of game play would be risky.

Isabeau and Ryan fall below the yellow line, and face elimination. Because of the breakdown of the teams, it's easy to see that Ryan is likely to go... there are still 4 members of the Black team and Amy aligns with them now making it a 4-3-1 deal as far as alliances are concerned. Kae and Amy vote for Ryan... B and Hollie vote for Ryan.... then it comes to Nicole and Neil, who also vote for Ryan. Some might see it as a dick move, but he was going home anyway, because the last team to vote was Bill amd Julie and they certainly weren't voting for Isabeau. Neil will definitely keep his bad wrap because he was the one who explained their vote, but he has the best chance at winning this thing because he always puts up the biggest numbers at weigh in.

Next week, the duos become singles, and it's every man for themselves. It'll be interesting to see how the "team" mentality changes now that the contestants have no one else to rely on.

Note to the ladies - if you band together, and vote as a team, then there is a better chance that a woman will finally win this show...

Ariel weighs in on this week's Loser

Take a seat, it's recap time

The competition is getting fierce, and the contestants say they aren't playing the game, but it'd be stupid for them not to. They know they can lose the weight, so edging out the competition will only benefit them in the end.

Rule #1 on Reality TV shows.... trust no one. Always just make sure you're looking out for yourself.

Rule #2 Don't be a hypocrit.... this is TV, everyone will realize and be able to see through you.

Rule #3 There are some unwritten rules of engagement, and people might think you're slime if you break them... but, you'll be the one $250K richer in the end.

If they didn't want you to play a game, then all 18 team members would still be on the ranch losing weight together.

Anyway... Nicole, Ryan, and B win the challenge which gives them each an individual vote at elimination, which in effect gives the three of them the power to vote of whoever they way - if they all vote for the same person. But, they have to make sure they do not fall below the yellow line, which would render that prize void.

(Product placement this week was Milk, brough to you by the National Dairy Council probably... and the Ziplock Seal and Steam microwave bags... I wonder how much S.C. Johnson spent on that one... I mean can they make those any MORE obvious?)

The weigh in: Neil drops 33 pounds... which is not surprising considering he gained 17 in water weight last week to throw the weigh in. Because Isabeau knew Neil would drop so much, she worked to not lose any weight, so that she'd throw up a bigger number next week and hopefully keep herself and Neil (who is usually capable of double digits) out of elimination.

See, this is all strategy... this is all game-playing. Are you here to lose weight? Yes. But are you also here to be the biggest loser? YES! Then you have to play your cards right in order to ensure you stay on the show. That is the bottom line.

Hollie, David, and Kae lose the weigh-in.... but Kae is seriously a machine... she lost another 6 pounds, and looks amazing. Poor David only lost 3 pounds, and has a hell of a lot of weight to lose, so to me he is the obvious target. Though, I though Kae might be an easy person to pick off because she could win the whole thing.

At elimination, Julie, Amy, and Bill vote for David.... which surprised me because Amy was throwing a bitch-fit about getting rid of Kae because they had the opportunity to do so, and if they missed it, she could win. Neil and Isabeau voted for David as well, since neither of them were members of the original Red team. B voted for Kae which didn't surprise me.... but then Nicole's vote for David tipped the scales to send him home.

It's getting more interesting each week. I think B is the dark horse... he flys below the radar, puts up decent numbers, and will have Kim's undivided attention now that he is the only one left training with her.

The Biggest Gainer?

Wow.... Big things happened last night.

The teams were changed up... 12 losers were left to "bet" their way to a power position. The temptation this week forced them to eat up to 2200 calories of cookies, crackers and cheese, to win the ability to split all the losers into 4 trios. Jez won the temptation eating a ton of crap, and did what he thought was a good job at splitting the teams. He chose Isabeau and Neil, the largest male threat and largest female threat. He did a pretty good job at making the other teams equal, but it was Bill, Julie and Amy that won the challenge.

After 4 bee-movie mini's (which I am done with) and another shameless product plug, we get onto the rest of the show...

Big rift between Amy and Kim... Amy is still pissed that Kim threw her under the bus... so she decided to work out with Jillian instead.

Ok, the weigh in. The week was stressful for everyone, so some people just didn't know how much weight they were going to lose. Ryan gained a pound, Amy stayed the same weight not losing anything. Then we get to Jez, Neil, and Isabeau. They needed to lose a combined 11 pounds to stay out of elimination. Jez and Isabeau lost a combined 10 pounds... and you know Neil is going to gain weight because of the promos.

He gained 17 pounds!!!!!!!!! Totally cheated.... drank 2 gallons of water before the weigh in to throw it, and get one of his teammates eliminated since they are bigger threats. Total dick move. I mean, it's a game, but you should play it fairly. This is nothing new... people have done this sort of thing in the past, but never to that extent. I mean 17 pounds... that is insane. And next week he'll have some crazy weight loss because it'll be the water weight plus whatever he really lost...

In the end the other competitors chose to eliminate Jez, unfortunately. It'll be interesting to see how they regard Neil next week, especially Isabeau who was Jez's original teammate, but has to work with Neil because he is now on her team.

Another Day Late... and Another Loser Short

First off, I totally called it about Mayweather not living to dance another week... He was a good guy and took it serious... just didn't have the Right Stuff.

Ok... Biggest Loser. I apologize for the time delay in my post... my actual job got in the way of my ability to write yesterday... damn "The Man," damn you!

Well.... we're in the middle of the season. You start to see the affect of being away from family start to take a toll on these people. They are craving twinkies, missing the kiddies, and have to listen to skinny b*tches tell them to run faster. I honestly don't know how they do it.

Anywho, this weeks challenge was for each loser to carry a huge rack thing, which was equivalent to 50% of the starting weight for each girl, and 75% of the starting weight for each guy. Again, the Red Team won, thanks to Phil. They've won like every challenge except 1 I think, and it's always been Phil who's carried them across the finish line.

After the challenge you see the cowboy David, get into a spat with Kim his trainer, who dropped a few f-bombs in asking him to step up the pace... Kim, he's almost 3x your size. I'd be careful to piss off the gentle giant.

This weeks weigh-in was very impressive for the Blue team. Usually somewhere in the middle of the show, people sort of plateau, they don't put up impressive numbers and the weigh-ins become really difficult. The Blue team lost a lot of weight, with Kae losing another 6 pounds. She is under 180 now, and just keeps droping weight. She is awesome. Kae, here is my personal apology for saying your team should have gotten rid of you a few weeks ago. You are a machine, and you have the potential to get down to like the 110 mark. Keep on keeping on.

Red team loses the weigh in, though cowboy David is the biggest loser for that team and cannot be eliminated. Kim meets with her team, and she is pissed. They didn't work hard enough, and as a team, they'd need to kick off the weakest link. She basically throws Amy under the bus by saying that their team will not have a chance to win weigh ins if they kick of B or Phil, and she is 100% right. They also won't win anymore challenges if they kick off Phil, since he's won all of them for the team. Long story short... the 4 team members split the vote, and the Blue team gets to decide who on the Red team goes home. Of course they chose Phil... any person with half a brain would have gotten rid of him since he was thier best player and the biggest threat.

Seems like next week they get rid of the teams... could be interesting.

The Biggest Booser

Well, I am not a huge booser, but Ren invited me to meet him at our neighborhood dive bar last night. With my empty stomach in tow, I chit chatted with "Bird dog" about horse racing and sipped a few Buds.

Before I knew it, it was 8:45 and I was missing Biggest Loser. So as quickly as we could, we finished our beers, and headed home. I turned on the TV (it's now 9:15) and they were already walking to the weigh-in! I mean, jeeze... 45 minutes for the weigh-in? Well whatever.

Here is the short short version of what happened...

Apparently the losers went on vacation to Jamaica, but still had to train and eat right and all of that good stuff. Black team, whose numbers weren't horrible, couldn't cut the mustard, so they were sent to elimination.

The twins sought to ditch Isabeau, though, that girl has some major pounds to lose. Isabeau and Hollie courted Julie and Jez in thier mission to axe Jim. Well the girls plan worked, and Jim was sent packing. While I still think it's a bit too early to ditch treats, this might have worked in their favor. I think Julie would have been the better target as she has only lost 19 pounds thus far, and just doesn't have that much to go. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... the first few weeks you have to get rid of the SMALLEST people... they have the least to lose, and you need to win your weigh-ins to keep out of the elimination room. Once you're down to a few people on each team, then you take out your biggest threats, since you're all capable of losing the same amount of weight... it's just a matter of determination and follow-through.
Bleh... need to eat my breakfast burrito.
