Alycia Lane's co-anchor officially charged

This was immenient and now it's official.

Feds: Philly ex-anchor hacked colleague's e-mail

Federal prosecutors say former KYW-TV anchor Larry Mendte gained access to
Alycia Lane's accounts from home and at work — about 537 times between January and May alone — and shared some of the information he found with a reporter. Lane's attorney said the motive was jealousy, but authorities were silent on Mendte's motive and his method.

What does this have to do with sport? Paaaa-lenty

Lane's attorney Paul Rosen said he believes Mendte also was behind other leaks that got his client into the gossip pages, including one last year in which she e-mailed photos of herself in a bikini to NFL Network anchor Rich Eisen. Eisen's wife intercepted the pictures.
Chances are Mendte will plead guilty and get a minor slap on the wrist because of his past philantropic efforts. He will end up in an anchor desk somewhere by years end.

Punching the fake tan off former major leaguers, slapping cops, hijacking emails...you can't argue Philly has some interesting news personalities. Something has to keep people tuning in every day and the constant shootings are getting old.

Fox News on Bikini-Clad Cop Puncher's Lawsuit

Our buddy Eric at phillyBurbs' Camel Clutch grabs us some video of Fox News' coverage of everyone's favorite feisty newswoman, Alycia Lane's lawsuit against CBS.

In the suit, apparently Lane talks about sending Rich Eisen bikini pictures, noting he only wanted to show him a "mutual acquaintance" in the pictures and that he insisted she "send them anyway" even though she thought she didn't look so hot in them.

Why is this still news?

Leave Alycia Aloooone!

NYP: Gay Cops Rip Rancor Anchor's Wrist Slap

From the AP:

February 29, 2008 -- An organization for gay police officers is upset that a case could be dropped against a former TV news anchor who was accused of attacking a cop and making a homophobic remark.

The New York City Region of the Gay Officers Action League said Wednesday it was "outraged and deeply concerned" that prosecutors downgraded the charge from a felony to a misdemeanor. The judge said the charge would be dismissed if Alycia Lane is not arrested in the next six months.

The charge stems from a Dec. 16 altercation.

Lane, 35, confronted undercover officers, made homophobic remarks and struck a female officer in the face, according to the original criminal complaint in the case. The decision not to prosecute Lane on the original charge, the group said, sends a "disturbing message" to the public.

While the original complaint said the assault caused facial lacerations and swelling, prosecutors said the scratches did not rise to the level of physical injury that a felony charge requires.

Lane denies the charges.

Alycia Lane: Latina Heat!

The Philly Daily News reports today that everyone's favorite anchor, Alycia Lane, has "filed a praecipe to issue writ of summons, typically a precursor to a lawsuit, against CBS3 Tuesday in Common Pleas Court."

Here's where things get interesting - Lane's personal file which mentions a number of gentlemen with whom the vixen apparently had some sort of rendezvous or another with (innocent or otherwise), that she wants buried:
The legal filing also asks for Lane's CBS3 personnel file as well as any documents related to her Jan. 7 termination and any documents that reference her ex-husbands Dino Calandriello, Jay Adkins, as well as Dr. Phil McGraw, on whose show she cried, Prince Albert of Monaco, whom the New York Post's Page Six reported she had flirted with, and of course Rich Eisen, the married NFL Network anchor to whom Lane e-mailed bikini pics of herself, therefore upsetting his wife Suzy Shuster. Any documents pertaining to Shuster are also being sought by Lane.
But wait! There's more! She's letting her fiery Latina blood boil over and possibly hinting at a race-based suit:
Lane and attorney Rosen have also asked for any documents or personnel files pertaining to the firing by CBS3 of "any other anchor or reporter of Latina descent, African-American descent or the descent of any other minority group." Could Lane, dubbed the "Latina Bombshell" by the People Paper's Stu Bykofsky in 2003, be playing the race card?

Alycia Freed

As brought to our attention by the rable rousers at phillyBurbs, bikini-wearing, cop-slugging anchor hottie Alycia Lane has been let out of her contract by CBS 3 (KYW-TV) effective immediately.

CBS 3 Anchor Alycia Lane Released From Contract:
CBS 3 President and General Manager Michael Colleran stated, "After assessing the overall impact of a series of incidents resulting from judgments she has made, we have concluded that it would be impossible for Alycia to continue to report the news as she, herself, has become the focus of so many news stories. We wish to make clear that we are not prejudging the outcome of the criminal case against Alycia that is pending in New York. We understand that Alycia expects to be fully vindicated in that proceeding. We hope that is the case and we wish her the best in all her future endeavors."
Their loss.
