From The DC Bureau: SOLD! Ron Mexico For $687.96

With the end of the NFL lockout nowhere in sight, players are out there looking for ways to earn some extra cash this Summer.

One way it appears, is through Sponsored Tweets. For those unfamiliar, Sponsored Tweets is an auction-type service that allows solicitors to send tweets under the handles of some more notorious famous tweeters, for a price.

On the athlete page, the first on the list is my favorite humanitarian, @MikeVick, who rolls for a surprisingly affordable $687.96 per sponsored tweet. Others on the list like @Tony_Mandarich ($58.83) go for considerably less and some like @champbailey ($1,176.50) and @merillhoge ($1,764.75) go for considerably more--wait--Merril Hoge--Merril F&^!n& Hoge gets $1,700 per tweet!?!?!?

Exit question: Do you suppose Valtrex or Alpo would be able to negotiate a much better deal for a tweet from Mr. Mexico?

FYI- Ol' @Blue_Pulaski will tweet whatever the hell you want for a local Groupon or Living Social deal...DM him for details.

Race Baiting Animal Hating Columnist Plays Race Card

There was a day when only HHR paid attention to the Trentonian. Today, Deadspin beat us to the punch, splashing the following graphic up...

The Trentonian's LA Parker writes bi-weekly columns often focusing on matters of race in New jersey's capital city. He makes his living on race-baiting and penning pieces pretending Trenton isn't a crime, drug and gang-riddled hellhole.

In response to his paper's unconventional Vick headline, Parker found the need to show the world he is a less rational, poor man's Rev. Sharpton with an angry, ignorant piece, "Condemnation of Philadelphia Eagles' Michael Vick shows racist America placing pets before blacks."

Parker writes:
Get ready to count your losses, Eagles fans, because your team has no shot this year without your black Negro, dog-killin’, prison-serving quarterback.

Yeah, you’re reading it right.

The Vick description occurs because despite time served for whatever crime he committed in a dogfighting scandal, despite community service, and despite a thousand repentances, he never will receive forgiveness by PETA-peddlers (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) nor the millions of Americans who place poodles before humans, especially black homo sapiens.

America, land of the free and home to Native American genocide, slavery, gender persecution, segregation, and a litany of other indiscretions that affected millions, appears hell-bent on repeatedly lynching Vick, retelling his dogfighting connection until he screams Uncle Tom.
He goes on. And on.

Our good friend John Wise from OneGreatSeason.com is traveling the country and immersing himself in a college football town each week before covering a top-flight game on Saturdays.

Today he shares video he shot of Ohio State coach Jim Tressel downplaying quarterback Terrelle Pryor's black eye tribute to Michael Vick.

An Unforgiving Person: Crooked Former Politician Has No Stomach for Mike Vick

When former NJ US Senator Bob Torricelli announced he was dropping his bid for re-election under a cloud of ethical scandal, he asked, "When did we become such an unforgiving people? How did we become a society where a person can build credibility their entire life and have it questioned?"

Now an infrequent columnist on the NJ political site PolitickerNJ.com, "the Torch" wrote a scathing editorial against Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles, as well as some suggestion on how fellow football fans should treat those companies associated with the franchise.

I can only do it justice by sharing in its entirety...

The decision of who to support in this year's NFL match ups just got easier. I'm for anybody who plays against the Eagles.

Michael Vick is joining the team. The same man who just left a federal jail on felony counts involving the torturing and death of animals is about to reenter center stage. That's quite a message about the state of our culture and the role that NFL wants to play in our lives.

Homicide detectives sometimes track animal abuse because it's often the first act of mass murders. The same sociopathic behavior that takes pleasure in the suffering of an animal will migrate to the pleasure gained by harming a person. It's the same complete indifference to life. The killing of a helpless animal is not only unlawful but an act of depravity and sickness.

Think about Michael Vick. He trained dogs to maul and maim each other until death. When he was disappointed in them, he hung them by the neck. Their teeth were forcefully removed without anesthesia. Their torture became a means of his entertainment.

The talking heads on television describes him as a victim of "political correctness" and we're "denying him his right to make a living". What a sick society.

Let the Eagles make their choice. You should make yours. Watch every company that advertises during Eagles games and refuse to buy their products. Decent people should have no part in this charade. Sportsmanship used to involve more than athletic prowess. A sportsman was a person of character and a role model. It seems that the NFL has traded the notion of representing the best to allow the participation of the worst.

Bear in mind, Torricelli is from North Jersey - typically NY Football Giants country.

Eagle Beagles

Yesterday we noted that NFLShop.com couldn't start marketing Vick jerseys quick enough. Today, Assassin Avenue pointed out that you can also adorn your best friend in Birds' apparel.

Somehow, I highly doubt this is the case thought...

On Second Chances: When Did Mcnabb Become Such a Forgiving Person?

In his post-game press conference following last night's pre-season loss to the New England Patriots, Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb issued his comments on his team's signing of convicted dog-fighting conspirator Michael Vick saying, ""I pretty much lobbied to get him here. I believe in second chances and what better place to get a second chance than here with this group of guys."

There are, however, a few individuals to whom Donovan is less forgiving and less willing to give a second chance in the Eagles' locker room.

Here' are a few folks towards whom McNabb has yet to forgive and re-embrace...

Terrell Owens

Hollywood Freddie Mitchell

Crippled Mummer Dan Leone

Rush Limbaugh

Progresso Soup Loyalists

Do you smell what Disney's cookin'?

While everyone has been caught up in the McNabb "controversy," ESPN feeds us the Mike Vick "divide" and now Jason Seahorn mentions that we may NEVER see another white cornerback in the NFL, is anyone else a little surprised at commercials for Disney's latest feature?

From IMDB's Plot Outline for The Game Plan: "An NFL quarterback living the bachelor lifestyle discovers that he has a 7-year-old daughter from a previous relationship."

Read: Minority athlete finds out he has illegitimate child. Disney, Hollywood's Dark Prince.

Whoopi! for Ookie

Goldberg Defends Vick in `View' Debut

Frankly, I'm getting tired of this story. But, having already called out ShaNeNe Foxx and Starbury, I need to point it out to Whoopi Goldberg.

Goldberg said that "from where he comes from" in the South, dogfighting isn't that unusual.

"It's like cockfighting in Puerto Rico," she said. "There are certain things that are indicative to certain parts of the country."

Mark this day. You will never, ever hear these words uttered again: Thank God for Joy Behar, the voice of reason:

"How about dog torture and dog murdering?" Behar asked.
Exactly.

Fortunately, where I come from in the civilized universe, people still have some common sense. Kudos to you, Behar. Kudos to you.
