MyTown: Orlando with Rashard Lewis

Last month, we kicked off an ambitious video project with Yardbarker and Wondershot Productions that’s taken us to 5 different cities to spend time with 5 NBA players, as part of myTown presented by T-Mobile myTouch 3G.

We just finished up the project by heading to Orlando to spend the day with the Magic's Rashard Lewis.

Audio Interview with Brian Scalbrine on Playoffs Advantage, City, Fans and Radio Career

HHR with Brian Scalabrine on Newbury Street in Boston.

Last month we had chance to catch up with Celtics big man Brian Scalabrine in Boston as part of myTown presented by T-Mobile myTouch 3G - a project we are doing with Yardbarker and Wondershot Productions that we've rolled out at BwB today.

Interestingly enough, with the C's close to crushing the hopes and dream of the city of Cleveland, Scal predicted Boston's potential playoff advantage over the rest of the field:

"I believe this team is super built for the playoffs…We might not have the best player like LeBron James or Kobe Bryant, but we have the most talent top-to-bottom and that’s what you need – you need players to make plays in the playoffs...

"The team that’s gonna win – 2 teams equal talent is the team that’s going to make less mistakes than the next team. You’ve got to be able to execute game plans. Veteran teams can do that."
You can listen to the interview here:

For the record, this would go over great in South Jersey, where they have roadside shrines to Bazooka Joe's unibrow.

Blogs With Balls Radio, Episode 9

After a broadcasting layoff in the wake of BlogsWithBalls 2.0 in Vegas, we're back.

This week’s Blogs With Balls Show on the JoeSportsFan Radio Network is now available.

Download Episode 9 Here.

Making its triumphant return along with us is the Ballsy Blog of the Week. This week we profile FanDuel.com. While not a blog, per se, the site definitely has a set of stones.

Somehow managing to get itself (and more specifically - fantasy sports as a whole) classified as games of chance rather than gambling, the site allows users to win cash money doing what guys do anyway - playing fantasy sports.

What's more, is you don't have to wait (or even play) an entire season for a payout - you pay to play by the game.

We'll let them explain...

1. Draft your team

First, pick your fantasy team based on which players you think will score the most fantasy league points during the upcoming NFL or MLB games (MLB games are daily and NFL are weekly)...Once you've picked your players you should order your draft by clicking on each player and dragging it into position. Then you order your selection ready for the competitive draft with your opponent. [Note: NBA & NHL now available]

2. Set your entry fee and choose an opponent

Select who you want to go head-to-head with (either a real-life friend or a Fanduel buddy,or even your whole fantasy league!), how much you want the entry fee to be and send them your challenge. The draft takes place and we'll email you your final roster- and you can see your opponent's team too.

3. Get paid instantly when you win

Then sit back and watch the real-time stats roll in for both your team and your opponent's team as the action begins. The team which scores the most fantasy points by the end of the day is the winner - and walks away with the cash prize!

Simple as pie.

Our guest this week is Yardbarker.com CEO Pete Vlateslica. We are lucky to get a chance to speak with Pete on the heals of the recently announced partnership between Yardbarker and FoxSports.com.

Pete goes into some detail about the deal, the relationship between marketers and bloggers, the current focus of Yardbarker and some of the new features that will be available through the portal in the near future.

We put him Skyped Up with "Name That Barker" where we see if he can identify some of the athletes in his site's stable of stars.

Dewey's Latest at the Coors Light Right Brain Fantasy Report

Let's just say the way my season's going, I might just be best served paying a little more attention.

That, or just accuse Dewey of cheating.

Thursday Afternoons in Houston

I'll be taking over for Adam from Yardbarker in doing a quick, weekly Thursday afternoon drop-by with 1560 The Game's David Nuno to talk about what's hot in the sports blogosphere.

Today was my first go-around (and more of an intro). I wasn't too terrible.

Every Team Needs an Official Musk

Earlier we showed you the goodie-bag at the NFL Draft Classic. What you didn't see in other video was a Sex-Panther-powerful scent 9IX Rocawear. Why they didn't want a scrawny white dude to pitch it, I'll never know. Feel free to enjoy my attempts as a pitchman. It's official though - it is the official musk of the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Football Giants. My work here is done.

HHR at the NFL Draft Classic

We mentioned it earlier, and now we have something a bit better than fuzzy pictures taken on a Blackberry to give you the full NFL Draft Classic experience. A few videos below - with more to come - courtesy of our friend Ben at Beryllium Pictures and Rob of rrbaker.

This first one gives you the best idea of the environment. Sadly I could not get the women with the sparklers to take a moment to discuss the important issues of the day. Which in my mind were the patron shots they were carrying.

When asked what the rookies had to look forward to, I never got an answer like, "They will be treated with the utmost respect and concern for their image." Half the time they would just cackle, and keep their lips tight. Ray Rice at least had advice beyond 'shave your head now because it's gonna get cut anyway, meat.'

This gentleman was probably the most articulate dude in the club. Which is why his well reasoned, logical, and thoughtful answers belong nowhere on this site.

And finally, we have a great montage that shows why I think the Jacksonville Jaguars locker room may be one of the most fun, well-dressed, and 'deceptively' well-read in the NFL. I just realized now that Uche actually says, "Cause the Goose gon' get loose!" at the end. Even with the new unis? That may be too ambitious.

We have more to come, including a very unfiltered Brandon Jacobs as well as Uche himself saying he would give all this up to go to BLOGS WITH BALLS.

All in all a great night, and as someone said to me earlier, "I think I found my Cheers." I've never done the reporter gig before, but aside from the insane hours, the sobriety, and being hated by some of the people who you were there to see, it's all around a good time.

Related question - do I go somewhere to pick up my Pulitzer Prize now or do they just send it to me? I don't want to get stuck with any shipping charges.

TO in the Yard

Love it or hate it, Yardbarker is a repository for fans, athletes and bloggers alike to spout off about just about anything going on in sports.

To date, their main draw has been Eagles QB Donovan McNabb. As such, the place is infested with unapologetic #5 defenders. Anyone who dares speak ill of Donnie Mac can anticipate a fire storm of push back from commentors.

Well, this should get interesting. As if scripted by Vince McMahon himself, Yardbarker has landed someone as nutty as McNabb...who just so happens to be his arch nemesis and antagonist...Terrell Eldorado Owens.

Shocking, only 8 fans.

His first post...needling another former Bird, Cris Carter. And he's begging for comments!
"Hey Yardbarker... This is T.O. and I want to tell you this myself. People ask me what I thought about what Cris Carter said about me a few days ago. All I know is, if I'd been the one who had said that about him, what would everyone have thought?"
Needless to say, if TO utilizes this forum, bloggers and fans are going to have unprecedented fodder in going after the receiver everyone loves to hate.

I for one, can't wait.
